Platelet-rich plasma

It has been used for many years to promote wound healing. The platelet-rich plasma is injected into the skin or scalp, which then secretes growth factors that stimulate collagen and regenerate skin cells and thicken existing hair follicles. This rejuvenates the skin and gives it a pink glow.

This procedure includes

Extracting a small amount of blood from the patient and then putting it in the centrifuge for 6 to 20 minutes. The platelet-rich-plasma is then injected into the skin or scalp. The patient usually needs initially 3 to 6 sessions. Plasma injection is very safe because it is taken from the patent’s own blood. PRP is designed to rejuvenate the skin and thicken the existing hair and is not intended to treat wrinkles unless it is mixed with hyaluronic acid.
With limited availability for approval by the Food and Drug Administration therapies for the treatment of hair loss such as minoxidil and hair transplantation, comes the importance of plasma-rich plasma injection as a promising treatment for hair loss. Several studies have been published to prove the safety and efficacy of PRP in increasing the thickness of existing hairs and prevent hair loss after 3-4 months of starting treatment. Platelets release growth factors, which act on stem cells in the hair follicle, leading to increased blood vessels feeding hair follicles, thus increasing the hair thickness.

How does PRP treatment work?

PRP treatment works by harnessing the regenerative power of platelets and their growth factors. After drawing a small amount of your blood, it is processed to separate the platelets and growth factors. The resulting platelet-rich growth factors (PRP) is then carefully injected into targeted areas of the scalp, where it stimulates the hair follicles, promotes circulation, and triggers the natural growth process of your hair.

What are the benefits of PRP treatment for hair restoration?

PRP treatment offers numerous benefits for hair restoration, including:
Natural: PRP treatment uses your body’s own healing properties, making it a safe addition to surgical procedures.
Stimulates hair growth: The growth factors in PRP help promote hair follicle regeneration, leading to improved hair thickness and overall hair growth.
Minimal downtime: Since PRP treatment is non-invasive, it involves little to no downtime. You can typically resume your daily activities immediately after the procedure.
Improved hair quality: In addition to stimulating hair growth, PRP treatment can enhance the quality, texture, and strength of your existing hair.
Personalized approach: PRP treatment can be customized to address specific areas of hair loss or thinning, ensuring a tailored solution that meets your unique needs.
